Loan Rangers Help Habitat-NYC Loan Rangers Educate Low-Income Consumers On Best Practices for Credit Cards Did you know that more and more Americans are using their credit cards as a plastic safety net? For most consumers, credit cards are an integral part of every day life. The US government reports that consumers charge close to $2 trillion per year to their credit cards, and the average consumer carries more than $8,000 a year in debt. Most at risk are low-income consumers, who often rely on credit for day-to-day expenses when they can't meet the exorbitant cost of living. Often times, these very consumers are the ones who spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars in interest, fees and more. Join Habitat-NYC's Loan Rangers Public Awareness Campaign and help teach low-income consumers how they can avoid credit card problems and save money. By committing a few hours of your time, you can help spread awareness that will keep low-income consumers out of credit card debt and put thousands of hard-earned dollars back into their pockets. You will be armed with tips on how to interpret credit card statements, how to keep fees at a minimum and resources on where to turn when credit card debt becomes unmanageable.
