Join Our 2011 Unity Build, Celebrating Gay Pride Month

Friday, June 17, 2011

Back by popular demand -- Habitat-NYC will host our third annual Unity Build, a unique opportunity for members of the LGBT community to make a difference in New York City's low-income communities.

This year's Unity Build is a "paint-a-thon" on Friday, June 17, at the New York City Housing Authority’s Seward Park Community Center in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Our volunteers will repaint the center, transforming it into a cheerful, inviting space for neighborhood families, children and seniors.

Our 2011 Unity build co-chairs are Jim Gillespie, Stan Ponte, Todd Oldham and David Terveen.

We take pride in the diversity of our community and invite LGBT individuals (16 and older) to be a part of this event. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate diversity, network, learn new skills and work side-by-side with our future homeowners.

Unity Day builders also commit to raising a minimum of $500 in to help finance the construction of affordable Habitat-NYC homes. Fundraising is easy with our online program.

Don't wait to register! We can only accommodate 20 volunteers, and our builds fill up fast!
