Only a few short years ago, all five members of the Murphy family were sardined into a one-bedroom apartment.

They looked hard for better housing, but Mike Murphy's truck-driving wages didn't go far in New York City.

With help from Habitat-NYC's many generous supporters and volunteers, Mike and Gladys Murphy and their three daughters achieved their dream: building and owning a home of their own.

In 2006, they moved into this simple, decent and energy-efficient home in Queens. Michael, Gladys, Mikayla, Analiese and Kristiana welcome you into their home to see how Habitat-NYC has changed their lives.

Pro bono video production by Stephanie Lear and Matt Epstein.
Music used with permission from Checkered Past Records.

A special thanks to the Michael, Gladys, Mikayla, Analiese, and Kristiana Murphy, and everyone who helped them achieve their goal of home ownership.
