Internship Opportunities
Habitat-NYC’s internship program provides opportunities for individuals enrolled in higher education to work with Habitat - NYC staff members to assist in the creation of new programs and systems. Habitat - NYC internships are excellent opportunities for students to gain practical work experience and learn new skills while earning academic credit.

Internship Enrollment Criteria:
The decision to accept or not to accept an intern applicant is objective and fair. We are unable to accept all individuals that apply. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be 16 years old or above.
Have successfully completed one year of full undergraduate course work and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Provide two references.
Agree to sign an internship agreement.
Commit to 100 hours or more of service with at least 10 hours weekly.

PR & Communications Intern
Habitat for Humanity - New York City seeks a Communications Intern to work 10 to 20 hours per week in its Brooklyn, New York office. This is an unpaid internship. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in affordable housing, New York City politics and writing and eager to both apply existing public relations skills and develop new skills. Qualifications:
Candidates must have very strong writing and communications skills.

Primary Objective:
The Communications Intern will work in Habitat-NYC’s Department of Development and Communications and will handle a range of media relations and communications activities.

Responsibilities:
Monitor media coverage of Habitat for Humanity - New York City.
Assist with writing updates and marketing our award-winning website.
Help draft and disseminate press advisories and press releases, make pitch calls to journalists, and handle inquiries from journalists.
Help with other media outreach activities (e.g., letters to the editor,
Op Eds, etc.).
Help organize events and cause-related marketing initiatives.
Assist with updating and expanding media contact lists.
