Apprenticeship – A Brush With Kindness

Department:  Volunteer Services/A Brush with Kindness

Internship Cycle: Fall 2018. Start date: Rolling basis

Paid / Unpaid: This is an unpaid apprenticeship

Weekly Hours Required: 16 hours/week

 

Position Description: The apprentice would support in the day to day operations onsite at A Brush with Kindness. The tasks will include prep of supplies in the morning, leading volunteer groups, painting and clean up at the end of day.

Support BWK team in preparation of project planning. This may include input on project design, interviews with volunteers on site, and assisting with the collection of “before and after” photos. Some time at our office in Lower Manhattan may be required.

Desired Education Level: High school (Senior) or College (Undergrad or grad)

Desired Area of Study: Communications or Arts degree.

Required & Preferred Skills: Have the ability to take direction, and lead small groups of volunteers to ensure they complete tasks designated by the site leaders.

Must have excellent oral and presentation skills. An art background, and/or experience painting is preferred. Painting, public speaking and teaching.

Additional Information: This position would serve on site with the Brush with Kindness team and volunteers of Habitat NYC. They would help to plan, lead and promote BWK activities on site.
