Meet Our Panelists

Brenda Williams-Butts

Brenda Williams-Butts
Vice President of Recruitment, Diversity & Inclusion at New York Public Radio

Ms. Williams-Butts is NYPR’s first-ever vice president of Recruitment, Diversity and Inclusion. She is responsible for defining, enabling and fostering a culture that values diversity of talent, ideas, values and backgrounds across all parts of the organization. Ms. Williams-Butts provides thought leadership, for staffing and employee-engagement strategies, policies, processes, and practices. Ms. Williams-Butts previously served as NYPR’s senior director of Community Engagement and Audience Development. She has spent the past 15 years as the guiding force behind the organization’s outreach, engagement, and on-air content diversification. In 2009, Ms. Williams-Butts was ranked among The Network Journal’s "25 Influential Black Women."


Rachel Lam

Rachel Lam
Senior Vice President, Time Warner Investments

Rachel Lam founded the Time Warner Investments group in 2003, and was head of the strategic investing arm of Time Warner Inc. for 14 years until early 2017. She currently serves on the boards of Mashable and Tremor Video. She has led numerous investments in early stage digital media companies, and managed Time Warner’s investments in and exits from various portfolio companies. Before returning to Time Warner in 2001, Ms. Lam worked in venture capital and private equity at Quetzal/Chase Capital Partners, and at CSFB Equity Partners, respectively. Prior to that, she was Director, Office of the President at Time Warner Inc., and spent several years in investment banking.


Debbie Propst

In her role as president, Debbie is responsible for a company-wide focus on delivering a distinctive product mix and an exceptional brand experience across multiple channels. Debbie brings a wealth of retail experience to her role and prior to joining One Kings Lane in 2012, she held positions at Neiman Marcus and Abercrombie & Fitch.

A National Emmy-Award winning journalist, Contessa is a widely-recognized anchor, host and correspondent. She's known for her marathon on-air coverage of breaking news and big political stories. Contessa hosts MSNBC's long-running, prime-time series "Caught on Camera," and contributes to CNBC. She’s also anchored and reported for CBS News and its digital network CBSN, WNBC, NBC News and MSNBC, where she’s covered (in no specific order) presidential elections, debt ceilings, government shutdowns, hurricanes, terror attacks and celebrity shenanigans, viral videos and dogs up for adoption.
