Individual Giving Manager

This is an exciting and unique time at Habitat NYC as we enter a strong growth period with our recent expansion into Westchester County. Job Overview:

The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for developing and implementing donor-centric strategies to increase annual revenue from current and prospective mid-level donors through a combination of front-line fundraising and marketing techniques. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful, strategic and creative thinker, a confident and comfortable relationship-builder, and a strong communicator and collaborative team player.  Icing on the cake is a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, marketing and communications, political campaigning, and/or sales.

The position will report to the Director of Individual Giving within the Resource Development department.  The candidate will work closely with members of the Resource Development department and collaboratively across departments throughout the organization.  Donor solicitation is limited to our service area, which is the five boroughs of New York City and now Westchester County.

Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks:

  • Working with the Director of Individual Giving, develop an annual stewardship plan and budget for the mid-level donor portfolio, incorporating annual campaigns, monthly giving, peer-to-peer fundraising and cultivation events etc.
  • Manage mid-level donor portfolio, performing all communication, cultivation, stewardship and recognition. Identify and upgrade donors and prospects when appropriate to the Major Giving Portfolio
  • Develop donor centric best practices for mid-level donors. Provide expertise and strategic recommendations for fundraising initiatives and ensures message continuity through fundraising efforts
  • Track and document the cultivation and solicitation activities for mid-level giving prospects and donors in Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Report on donor metrics, budget expenses, and revenue goals

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Minimum 4 years professional experience in non-profit development, marketing and communications, political campaigning, and/or sales
  • Demonstrated success creating strategic fundraising or other campaigns that communicate the case for support to various audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Must work well under pressure
  • Experience managing and being accountable for budgets, fundraising or sales targets and donor or customer relationships
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to draft, proofread, and edit well-written emails
  • Creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit; someone who is willing to try new ideas and think “outside the box”
  • Demonstrate an affinity for the mission of Habitat for Humanity New York City
  • Exceptional “emotional intelligence”—ability to “read people” and understand their motivations

Location, hours: 

Currently, this position is 100% remote. Eventually we intend to re-engage our New York City office with a hybrid in-person and work-from-home model in order to better build cross-divisional strengths with team members.

Safety is our number one priority, and we have retrofitted our office with COVID-19 safety measures. We will supply all Habitat NYC staff with masks and other safety equipment upon our return.

The office is located at 111 John St. FL 23, New York, NY 10038.

Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm EST, evenings and weekends as required.
